We have owned Bandolero since 2005 during which time we have cruised extensively throughout the west coast of Scotland and the Outer Hebrides. During this period we have spent a great deal of time and money in bringing Bandolero up to her current standard. Unfortunately, time has now caught up with us so if we wish to continue sailing we must move on to a craft that has a large engine and an inside steering position.
The Contessa 32 is a beautiful yacht that sails like a dream and in which we have always felt safe despite the changeable and challenging weather that can be experienced on the west coast of Scotland. Bandolero is fitted out for cruising with a roller reefing foresail and a Kemp in mast roller reefing system. The Kemp system is attached to the mast but can easily be removed to bring her back into Class. A new mast and rigging was installed in 2013.
We have only ever sailed with a No 3 Genoa which we have found perfect for Scotland so the extensive sail wardrobe we inherited with the boat has never been adapted for the roller reefing. The hull was epoxy coated by the previous owner as a preventative measure and the boat is stored ashore during the winter (6 months).
